NO TO MALNUTRITION

The scourge of Malnutrition has taken root in our society in the face of the inability of food self-sufficiency in our countries. During humanitarian crises and famine crises we implement nutrition activities to address growing needs. Our intervention strategy prioritizes children under 5, pregnant women and breastfeeding women. In addition to the curative nature of our activities, we place particular emphasis on prevention through the promotion of breastfeeding, infant and young child feeding and many other multi sectorial activities that are connected to the strong link that exists between nutrition, health, water, hygiene and sanitation. In a crisis situation, our interventions target internally displaced people, host vulnerable populations, and needy.

In CAR for more than two years, with the support of UNICEF, we have been implementing activities for the care and prevention of malnutrition in GAMBOULA and OUAKA’s prefecture (specifically in ten internally displaced persons sites of Bambari, Dashima and Bokolobo).

These activities include, among others:

  • Capacity building of local staff,
  • Screening and treatment of malnutrition in sites with community coverage through trained and deployed relays,
  • Mass awareness raising on environmental and personal hygiene,
  • Mass sensitization on infant feeding to young children including promotion of breastfeeding.
